“Usually the better places are behind the high street” - This has been my experience from all around the world. One thing is for sure that the Italian furniture, glass doors and TV's on the walls are not doing the job! We look for new approaches and individuality which seems to be increasingly more rare!

Here are some suggestions when looking for where the locals go or where things have something to say.

Kapparis and Ayia Triada - Karas for fish and friendly Cyprus service. Just Italian for pizzas and pasta, in the hands of Yianni. Newcomer Folio Restaurant features an “oh la la” ambiance and discover Serena Bay for many reasons!! Protaras and Pernera - Blue Spice Restaurant for food and entertainment, Knights Pub for excellent quality and interesting combinations of tastes.

The rest, is more likely to be as 'what you see is what you get'. Finally, try cocktails at Grecian Park's Cliff Bar and dine at its Asian restaurant Umi. Dherynia's must is Misohoro and Xylofagou's Afxentis for casual eating. Sotira's Mousikos has interesting Med combinations.

Paralimni - Kamashias and Cava for good local favourites and interesting wines, Senso and Epodi Café's in the square for a coffee break. Ayia Napa - Sage Restaurant offers a good standard next to the Liquid Café with value for money food and drink. Fiji with Polynesian cuisine has an exceptional standard in Ayia Napa. Guru's Love Bites dining spot takes you places with its menu and ambiance.
